Tribe

The Whine-Wine Blog

Because every rant, rave or whine goes down better with a great glass of wine!!

Last week we talked about friendships and how building good friendships are essential. I want to take that a step further. You, I'm sure, have heard so much talk about tribes, building your tribes, etc. So, what exactly is a tribe? A tribe is a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.

What we like to call a tribe in our hood, from the "Urban Dictionary":

A group of friends that becomes your family.

The people that will be there for you no matter what and who you're guaranteed to have a good time with. Although people may not understand how close they are and their relationships with each other, it doesn't matter because they all understand it and love each other.

That's the definition we're all most familiar. Your tribe is your peeps. They're the ones that understand you. They get you. They’re the people who uphold you. They tell you when you're raggedy, ratchet. They’ll praise and esteem you when you're on point. These are the people you want in your corner. I have to say; I have some terrific people in my tribe.

When building your tribe, you must find kindred spirits. Otherwise, there's friction. At this stage in the game, I don't need conflict. I need smooth sailing from this point forward, and I'm sure you do too!

So, who's in your tribe? Shout 'em out and give them some props for being there for you!

Until next time, enjoy the journey!
