The Photograph
The Whine-Wine Blog
Because every rant, rave, or whine goes down better with a great glass of wine!!
By now, most of you have seen the new Will Packer movie “The Photograph.” As I sat and watched Isa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield fall in love on the big screen, it reminded me that yes, black folks, meet at other places than the club, that we have real jobs, that we fall in love, you know do regular shit like everyone else. This was a heartwarming, authentic story about black love. It did my soul some good that I didn’t have to sit through another black movie that glorified, the drug game, and violence or showed us as slaves, pimps, prostitutes, cops or gangsters!
From a writer’s standpoint, I felt they did an excellent job with the flashbacks. Don’t you hate watching a moving that flashes back to the past, but you get lost when they come back to the present? I do! I know one other movie that did this well, and that was “The Notebook.” This story reminds me of that movie. The segues in The Photograph were on point. The story had a smooth flow, but in some spots, the pace was a little slow. But, all in all, this was a great movie! If you haven’t seen it, I hope you go check it out!
Until the next time – Enjoy the Journey!
