Goodbye 2017!
The Whine-Wine Blog

Goodbye 2017!
This year was an amazing year. Of course, there was the usual ups and downs but overall, I had a good year. This year I purchased a home after doing the apartment living thing for the past 7 years. I managed to pay off all my credit card debt and saw my credit score increase significantly. I completed 2 books. I’ve written a blog every week of this year. I’ve increased my blog followers substantially and I hired the most amazing social media strategist one could have on their staff!
Yes, this was a good year for me. I know some of you may be looking at your own year and saying that you accomplished nothing. I beg you to look again. There were some lessons you learned that were valuable to you. Albeit you may have learned, them the hard way but they were still learned! I love the saying I never loose/fail I learn. I too have had some mishaps this year but I’ve learned so much from them. One of my main issues I deal with is that of flight when things go wrong. One thing I did differently this year was stand. I have a tendency to run away for issues. I called my flight me just doing things differently or changing the scenery. I stood my ground this year. What I found was if I stood still and assessed the situation, the situation really wasn’t all that bad. After a few tweaks, I was back on track.
Another thing that was invaluable that I learned this year was everybody ain’t your friend. Everybody don’t want to see you win. I found out that was ok. Everybody doesn’t have to see you at the end of your journey. People play a certain part in your life and then it’s time to say goodbye. My friends don’t be afraid to say goodbye to those who don’t have your best interest at heart. I know many of you are afraid you will be alone; and yeah you will be. But what I say is this: it is better to be alone and living in your truth and following your God given destiny than trying to please someone that doesn’t like you anyway!
I have had many lonely days but you know what, I wouldn’t change them. Those days allowed me to get clear about what I wanted to do. I was able to discern where my path was leading me. I’ve been able to really see what my talents are and where they can take me and oh the possibilities are endless! I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings me. I know it’s going to be my best year yet!
So, in the next few days, review your year. See where you are. Write your goals out for next year. One thing I do every year is write myself a letter on New Year’s Eve and seal it. I can’t open it until the next New Year’s Eve. My letter highlights me, who I am and what I want to accomplish. The thrill is opening the letter a year later to see what I’ve actually done. I challenge each of you to do something similar. You need to hold yourself accountable. You need to challenge yourself. Hey if you don’t want to write yourself a letter write it to me. I will hold it for you. I’m a good accountability partner!
Lastly, I would like to thank each and every one of you for reading my blogs every week. Without you there would be no me. You all keep me going and I appreciate all of your input, prayers and good wishes! Let’s make 2018 our best year yet and drink more wine!!!
Happy New Year!
Until next time…Enjoy the journey!
