Don’t Fear
I was having a conversation with a friend and we were just chatting about goals, drive and ambition. This question came up: What holds people back from accomplishing their goals? Of course, the usually responses of lack of resources, not knowing what to do, lack of drive etc. But don’t these responses boil down to excuses? Each excuse boils down to fear.
We’ve heard all our lives we each have a purpose. We’ve heard we just have to work through all of our fears to pursue this purpose in order to become victorious. But what happens if you don’t know how to do that? I get it. We get hit with these great platitudes and have no clue as to how to come out on the other side.
One thing I’ve learned along the way is to stop and slow down for a minute to examine the fear. I try to find out the origin of the fear. Once I find that out, I assess if it’s actually something life threatening. Typically, I find out my fears are my scarytales that I tell myself thus self-sabotaging my efforts. When I know the origin, I can then move forward.
However, there are those times I’m just plain scared. I have no real antidote for this. But I can offer a bit of advice. When you feel this kind of fear, don’t let it stop you. Feel it, dig into it and complete your task anyway. Fear is used to stop us from achieving what God has given us to do.
Don’t give into your fears. You have what it takes to accomplish your goals. You have exactly what you need to accomplish your goals. Use your fears as fuel to propel you forward. I always say feel the fear and do it anyway! If that fails drink two glasses of your favorite wine and march forward accomplishing your goals!
Until next time, enjoy the journey!
