Do You Know What Your Gifts Are?
The Whine-Wine Blog
Because every rant, rave or whine goes down better with a great glass of wine!!
I read somewhere that 80 to 90 percent of people hate the job that they go to every day. That’s sad because, think about it, you spend the majority of your day at that job. How miserable! I found an article by J.T. O’Donnell, founder, and C.E.O. of Workitdaily.com, article name “I Spent 15 Years Studying Why People Hate Their Jobs. This Is the Top Reason”. In the article, O’Donnell stated that most people are simply dissatisfied with their jobs. He says most people make career choices to impress others. They go for the prestige or impressive positions, just to have other people envious of them. For the most part, we judge people by what they do, and if what they do doesn’t make others salivate, then we have to go out and find something else, that we hate instead of following our hearts.
Why do we even bother going? Why don’t we just find what we love and do that? Why is it so important to impress the Jones?
Those are great questions; however, I think it boils down to this: fining our passion isn’t easy. It takes a lot of inner work to untangle constructs that make up your family dynamics. Not to mention the norms of your community and geographical location.
I know, in my hood, especially those in my generation, were taught to get a good-paying job and stay on it until retirement. It didn’t matter what the job was. The only requirements were, was the job legal, did it make money, and could you tell your grandmother what you did without making her blush. Now, following those requirements were considered a recipe for success. But what about your happiness? Well I guess, your individual satisfaction didn’t matter…. And we wonder why everyone you know is stressed, grumpy and mad all the time.
People, it’s time to stand up for what you want. This is your life. You have to live it your way. Wouldn’t you be happier living your life on your terms? I, now, am embracing my gift of writing and leaning into it. I’m building a business surrounding my gift, and I must say I’m happier. I’ve been writing again consistently in the mornings, and that brings me joy. Guess what, because I do what I love before I start my J.O.B., my day goes better! I say, go out and find what you love at all costs, you’ll thank yourself later!
Oh, and here’s a snippet of my latest book project “Angel’s War II – Revenge & Redemption” Enjoy and drop me a line to tell me what you think! The book will be coming out in December! I’m about to grab me another glass of wine and get to writing!!
Jeremiah and Angel stood face-to-face glaring at each other. The sky flashed dark, and then a bolt of lightning followed by thunder shook the both of them. Above, the war was raging. This afforded Angel a moment. She was trying to decide. She didn’t know what to do. Jeremiah’s darkness spread across his face. He’d won he thought as he saw the affliction on her face.
Jeremiah threw his head back and let out a mighty roar. The storm seemed to answer him back with a loud clap of thunder followed by a vicious strike of lightning.
Until next time, enjoy the journey!
