The Whine-Wine Blog
Because every rant, rave, or whine goes down better with a great glass of wine!!
There’s an age-old question that says, are you born a writer or do you become one? I don’t know the answer to that question. All I know is that I am a writer. I suppose you can become one. Just take a look at all of those autobiographies out there or the plethora of books available on Amazon. But is writing deep down in their souls like true writers? I think not. Most of my fellow writers and I feel lost without a laptop, pen, pad, or anything you could write with. We see a story just taking a walk down the street, watching a yellow butterfly float by. We see a story just looking out the window, watching the rain pour down. We see a story when we see an elderly couple sitting on a bench enjoying a summer day. Writing is in our DNA. It is our very breath we take. We live for the authentic story, and we would die trying to find the absolute best way to tell that story. Our words leap off the page. We wake up in the middle of the night because we came up with the exact words our character needed to say, or the most alluring plot just danced into our heads.
Writing for us is not a job. It’s a journey. It’s an adventure. It’s our lifeline. We use our words to bring joy to others. We find unusual ways to explore pain and the healing process. We bring people together through our prose.
We make it possible to believe again; believe in a better world, believe in hope for a brighter future. We leave the world better than it was.
So, I chose to write. I chose to continue on this journey of discovery through words. I chose to continue to support my fellow writers through encouragement, reading their words, and purchasing their books. I chose to leave the world better because of my writing.
I ask that you help do the same, maybe not through writing but find what makes you eager to rise in the morning and makes you hesitate to go to sleep at night. Once you do, share it. You’ll be happy you did.
“It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about where you get yourself in the end. There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. And there’s grace in being willing to know and hear others. This for me, is how we become.” Michelle Obama ~ Becoming
