Love. Today’s the day of love. There’s all kinds of love out there but Valentine’s day is the day for romantic love. I know everybody wants somebody to love. Everybody wants a boo on Valentine’s day. You feel all alone when you don’t have anyone to celebrate with you.

I want to ask you, however, are you worthy of that love? Really think about that for a moment. I mean have you looked at yourself? Do you love yourself? Do you love yourself unconditionally? My dears, no one is going to love you if you don’t love yourself. Take a long look in the mirror, tallying up your assets and liabilities. No, not to scold yourself, but as a way of getting to know yourself better. If you find some things you want to change than do, otherwise love yourself the way you are.

Listen, once you know yourself inside and out and love what you see, you will draw to you what you want and need. You can’t be a broken person or a half a person and expect someone to come in and save you. Come on, who wants a half a person that you must constantly fix up and prop up to make them feel better. That’s exhausting and it’s not fair to the person who must do the fixing and the propping.

So, this Valentine’s day if you’re spending it solo and have done the work to make yourself whole, try something new while waiting for your boo. I know, you want to cry while eating a gallon of rocky road ice cream but don’t. Refrain from that. Treat yourself to a good dinner either go out or cook. If you’re at home set your table with the good china and crystal. Get your candles out and light them. Toast yourself with the best damn bottle of wine that you can find while opening the most exquisite gift you got yourself!

Now y’all know, I already got my bottle of wine!! Happy Valentine’s day!
